Greetings and Happy New Year! My holiday was relaxing, I joined friends for a glass of prosecco and then I was in my pajamas until ten on the couch. I think vacations can be fun in warm climates, but here it was raining so much all I wanted to do was stay indoors.
Getting back to regular content, you can expect more of the same from me this year. More space explorations, DIY projects, resource reviews, travel stories, and other life musings thrown into the mix. I’m going back to Florida at the end of the week to get the house ready for a tenant. We are renting the house from mid-January to May so I have a few projects to complete before that happens. While our family was home for Thanksgiving, I redid the electric fireplace and added woven chairs and a coffee table to the living room. The sofa will arrive next week.
I wanted sconces for the walls, but I didn’t want to pay an electrician to come out and install wire light boxes at this time. Instead, I opted for battery-operated sconces to give the space just a little extra light for reading at night or sitting by the fire.
I was surprised how much I liked the fabric ones I ordered, they are semi-cylindrical canvas with a remote control and several light settings, warm, cool etc. They also have timer settings so they will turn off whenever I program them to. Their minimalist style blends in with the almost white wall, when they are turned off, they do not attract attention, so they are perfect for this space.
You can find lots of wall plugs but I didn’t want to look at the wires so the only option without adding wires was to buy a battery operated sconce and luckily there are a lot more choices now.
modern wood refillable / wood and black (set of two)
onion (set of two) also in bronze / brass picture light with the remote
rechargeable magnetic lamp
The lights below come in two sets, controlled by a single remote control. So, if you’re looking to add extra light to your bedroom, hallway, living room, nursery, dining room, office, garage, anywhere, consider these battery-powered wall sconces for your home.
black and gold gooseneck / wood + green (multiple colors)
white gooseneck / brass torchieres / black gooseneck
modern wood and white / black and brass / brass cylinder
If you’re not into those styles, consider hanging a sconce that’s designed to be wired where there’s no power source and using battery-operated remote control bulbs. Be sure to double check the inside of the candle holder to make sure the battery operated bulbs will fit inside!
