Hello everyone, my name is Marty and I’m new here 👋
I originally planned to get the website and forums up and running before introducing myself, but things are taking too long and I don’t want to wait any longer.
First, let me acknowledge the incredible work Mark has done to bring the site from an idea to where it is today over the last 27 years. I am honored that Mark has allowed me to become the custodian of the Automated Home brand for the next chapter. I know I have big shoes to fill, but I hope that in time I can continue the wonderful legacy that Mark started.
Next, I’d like to acknowledge my frustration with the forums not working as they should right now. I’m also frustrated that things aren’t working, but hopefully we’re only a week (or less) away from getting things back to normal.
Switching from Mark’s hosting company to mine caused the forums to be completely broken for a while, and I’m grateful to my developer for helping me get them back online at all, which was in doubt for a while.
Anyway, we hope to be back to normal very soon.
As mentioned in the video above, I’m early on in my smart home journey. I’m very interested in learning as much as I can, experimenting with different products, trying to figure out what I should be using in my home, and I’d love for you to be a part of that journey.
But if you decide my smart home learning journey isn’t one you want to follow, no hard feelings if you decide to unsubscribe or go elsewhere.
But if you decide to stay, I would be honored to meet you and communicate with you. I’m having some interesting conversations with some very smart people in the space and I’ll start sharing some of them soon. I will also be playing around with different types of content here on the website, on the Youtube channel and elsewhere.
I also go to a lot of fairs, so I might share some interesting things that I will come across there in the future.
Basically, I’ll experiment with different types of content until I find something that’s fun for me and interesting for you. So your feedback is always welcome.
But if none of that sounds interesting to you, one thing I can promise you is that great information on forums doesn’t lead anywhere. I know many people consider those old threads a treasure trove of information and that content will always be there.
I’ll keep this update short and sweet, but it’s an honor to be here and thanks again to Mark for pointing me to this awesome brand he’s built for the next chapter.
