If you’ve been dying to add a new plant to your growing houseplant collection, then Aldi should be your next stop. Some grocery chain locations have a rack of new hanging plants available, and each plant is just under $9. Aside from choosing which plant to choose, the hardest decision you’ll make is whether or not to wheel the entire cart to your car.
Spotted at the Bloomington, Illinois Aldi by Ashley of the Oh Hey, Aldi Instagram account, Aldi has a great selection of hanging plants available, with pothos vines and Tradescantia being the standouts. But the store also has a hanging fern and a pilea involucrata plant (sometimes called the friendship plant!).
Tradescantia and pothos plants both require similar care – both like indirect sunlight and infrequent watering when the soil dries out. They are also perfect candidates for hanging planters as they produce long, trailing vines and can either be trimmed and propagated, or allowed to turn your space into a jungle.
Pilea involucrata likes moisture and its soil should be kept fairly moist, but definitely not saturated. It also likes bright, indirect sunlight. Place this plant near a window near a humidifier or mist the foliage frequently to simulate the rainforest conditions it comes from.
And sword ferns like the one at Aldi prefer partial to full shade and to keep their soil moist but not soggy. So if you feel the time is right to add to your plant family then visit your local Aldi to see what hanging plants they have in stock. At just $9 each, try not to overspend!
