IKEA announced this week that it is teaming up with Dutch design studio Raw Color, co-founded by Daniera ter Haar and Christoph Brach, on an 18-piece line of furniture and decor. Considered the TESAMMANS collection, it includes lampshades, textiles, glassware, mugs, storage essentials and more, all decorated in a variety of eye-catching hues. In fact, the limited edition series operates under the slogan “color the everyday”, applying a total of 15 tones to materials such as metal, cotton and stone.

Of course, IKEA is no stranger to brightly decorated designs, but what sets this crossover apart from the rest is its use of unexpected matching colors and patterns. Think: saturated hues mixed with more muted tones, plus graphic pillow covers and blankets with multiple (seemingly clashing!) prints and motifs.

While the TESAMMANS line doesn’t hit IKEA stores until April 1st, you can get a peek at some of the highlights above — including fun metal decor, playful jugs, and a unique tri-color table lamp with a “stacked” cone-shaped shade. I also love the compact trolley on wheels (probably the best example of synchronizing surprising color combinations), which looks straight out of the HAY catalog and gives a typically utilitarian storage unit a lively edge.

“With TESAMMANS, we want to inspire people to express themselves and bring joy into their everyday lives,” says Maria O’Brian, creative leader at IKEA Sweden, in a press release. “It’s a collaboration that allows people to add unique pieces of design and create colorful spaces that reflect their personality. Raw Color’s unique creative approach has inspired and challenged us to work with color in new ways.”

The TESAMMANS line from IKEA and Raw Color is also shockingly affordable at $3 to $250. The pieces also work particularly well with IKEA’s existing product range, such as the minimalist JÄTTEBO modular sofa pictured at the very top of the page. However, they are ultimately designed to live in tandem and enhance your existing home. Look out for the full TESAMMANS collection coming in April, which officially proves that color is making a big comeback for interior design this year.
