I returned from the KBIS fair in Las Vegas where I walked through three halls of exhibits of both international and domestic brands that presented their new and important products. There was a lot of buzz about the kitchen tops in West Hall, and some design figures took notice of the colorful palettes on display.
Range paint was a big hit in the 1970s, I remember avocado green and mustard yellow fridges and stoves from that decade, I even had one left over from that era in my college rental apartment! Gone are those outdated shades. In the last few decades, we have mostly seen stainless steel stoves and ovens, black and white. Well switch to neutrals, the colorful kitchen range is back and it’s a hot item in kitchen design.
Sliding and freestanding palettes in gorgeous new shades were the center of attention at the show and I swooned just like everyone else. If you’re in the mood for color in your kitchen or simply want to bookmark these manufacturers for future reference, here’s a list of brands where you can choose from a variety of bright or subtle colors to create a focal point in your kitchen.

I saw Eucalyptus in person at KBIS and would absolutely love to use that shade in future kitchen!

The French manufacturer is the crème de la crème of the range in the industry, these ovens may cost as much as a car, but wow they are stunning and a true chef’s kiss. Williams Sonoma is a dealer and you can purchase these premium ranges at their store. It’s fun to play with the “make your own” page on the La Cornue website where you can see more colors available, I especially love the new colors in partnership with Susanne Kasler.

There is a selection of cheaper ranges available from Z Line, I just wish their colors went beyond cobalt and red, but they do offer black and white which is nice.

Another company that offers retro style ranges, ovens and other colorful appliances is Big Chill, their retro collection has a range of fun colors in it if you want a unique color like jade, buttercup or lemonade pink, take a look at their color swatches.
