Dairy-free Shamrock-Green Shake

A challenge? To make a non-dairy – but delicious – green take on the iconic shake that everyone loves this time of year. We all know that it is not difficult to make a green smoothie. Add some spinach or kale and bingo – you’re green.

But I wanted to make this shake a little more fun. A little richer, still satisfying all food restrictions in our house. That’s what makes the holidays special, right? Food memories are key memories.

Well this recipe knocked it out of the park. It’s tasty enough for the girls to have as a special treat, but balanced enough that I feel like a nutritionist for Jules and me.

For the base, I use vanilla flax milk, mixed with spinach and fresh mint leaves. And in order for my children to touch it, there must not be a single green piece left – so mix it up really good. Everything is mixed with frozen avocado, frozen banana and of course vanilla ice cream with an almond base for a delicious remake of a favorite classic that is no longer an option for some in our family.
