Fake spring stems to freshen up your rooms

Who else is ready for spring?! As someone who is always cold, I welcome the warmer season like I’m spinning through the Alps in The Sound of Music.

Fortunately, you don’t have to wait for the buds to bloom in your neighborhood to add new stems to your home. I’m so excited for a seasonal refresh with some spring decor!

Although I like to add greenery from my yard, when nothing is in bloom, there are so many fake stems on the market now that look very sophisticated and realistic. It’s really amazing, honestly! They will last for years, so it’s a no-brainer to get something you love to fill your vases.

So what should you look for in spring flower arrangements? For my taller, more stately vases, I like to balance them with an angular, long feature, such as a few sprays of foliage, which often look very realistic. They look great in formal dining rooms!

A favorite for medium-sized vases is a touch of spring colors on a darker leaf. It adds some gravitas to the arrangements. Magnolia stems offer this balance so well, whether the flower is more pink or creamy white. Or a cluster of fluffy hydrangeas can also work well. I will be adding them to my living room in the middle of the sitting area surrounded by my favorite coffee table books.

When I look at my shortest vase arrangements, I think peonies and lilacs in white and purple work really well together – especially in multiples. Go ahead and get a few of the same varieties for your vase. I like to add them to the nightstand. It feels like you’re staying at a bed and breakfast, and who doesn’t like that?
