Elevate Your Candle Ritual: The Complete Guide to Accessories

I’m so excited to see the huge response to our HouseWarming collection with Lightwell! This scent is everything I want in a candle, and it’s really humbling to know you’ll be enjoying it in your own homes.

Candles are the perfect backdrop for moments lived at home. And as a candle lover, there are a few extras I’ve picked up over the years that have made the candle ritual even more fun. I thought I’d share some of the ones I love to have around the house or to include in a gift basket for a New Years or special occasion!

1. Candle stand

My mom saw that I had my candle stand on Amazon. And when I brought her the candle, it gave her an idea. She went to Ross and took a cylindrical low bowl, turned it upside down and placed a candle on top of it. I was like, “You’re so creative!” Anything can work, but I think this stand is so fun.

2. Fuse trimmer

David Beckham actually talked about fuse trimmers in the Beckham documentary. He said it was his job every night to go around the house and sort out all the candle wicks. So the lesson here is be like David Beckham.

3. Electric lighter

These electric lighters are great to have on hand, especially when I’m lighting lots of candles all over the first floor before company comes over. Also, they feel safer for children. I think they’re convenient and functional, and you just need to fill them — they’ll never run out!

4. Match holders

I like to have some matches displayed next to the candles. There are beautiful cloche-style glass or open-topped brass and marble ones. Whatever your style, you’ll find one that suits you.

5. Matches

If I only light one candle, I like to light a match. I love the sound, the smell, the look! I used to collect matchboxes too — there are so many that are really cool and pretty. Even sentimental!

6. Lamp for heating candles

We have one of these lamps, and I think it’s absolutely charming. I like the ambiance it brings. It heats the wax on your candle evenly, allowing you to get the most out of it. It’s also safer if you’re concerned about open flames around younger children or pets or around the house in general.

7. Snuffer

Okay, this is fun! The candle holders remind me of something you would see in a very historic, traditional house. But they also serve a big purpose: you’ll reduce the chance of wax and soot splatter when you blow out the candle. This also helps keep your candles looking more pristine! I especially love them when I blow out candles on the mantle that I can’t reach.
