A $50 pendant is a game changer in this dining room makeover

Used furniture fills the space.

To keep the project budget-friendly, most of Christina’s furniture was second-hand — including a chic marble-look dining table and four wooden chairs she lucked into while browsing Facebook Marketplace. “I was so excited to find a used option that was more affordable but still looked classy,” she says, although it was a challenging hunt.

“I had a hard time finding a dining table that would fit this space because it’s narrow, and I often walk through it to get into the kitchen,” says Christine. “The oval shaped table ended up being a great choice and fits the space nicely.”

To complement her character-rich dining room, Kristin dressed built-in shelves with stacked books, greenery, and sentimental knick-knacks, like vintage ornaments her grandmother collected during her travels in Europe.

Kristin is delighted with the results and says the room is much more comfortable now. As for the next steps in her home makeover journey, she turns to Pinterest for inspiration. “I’d love to add even more character to this space by having mismatched, funky chairs,” she says. “I saw this on Pinterest and thought it was such a unique way to add character to your dining space!”
