I love candles. It’s not a secret. I like to round up my favorites seasonally, and the cat is out of the bag for my candle. Lighting a candle makes everything feel more… homely. I’ve found they’re a great way to romanticize my rituals – especially in the evenings when I’m going to be laid back for a while or when I’m cleaning the kitchen. Plus, they make everything feel more upbeat and sparkly.
CLJ x Lightwell HouseWarming Trio
When I started dreaming up a candle collaboration for Chris Loves Julia, I knew I wanted to work with Lightwell Co. They’re a handmade goods company from Nashville known for their room-soaking candles and luxuriously scented soaps. I have been buying and giving away their fancy candles and soaps for years. They set the standard when it comes to elegant packaging and sophisticated fragrances. It was the right moment for me to get the opportunity to collaborate with them.
We’ve been fiddling with the scent for months. I really wanted it to be a good fragrance all year round. I gravitate towards top notes that are woody — cedar and balsam. There is a hint of fig, as well as hints of coriander and nutmeg. It’s a really warm, musky candle that’s not too sweet. I wanted it to feel lived in – like a home that has a deep well of comfortable memories. We call this collaboration HouseWarming.
The collection with Lightwell actually includes a candle, as well as hand wash and hand lotion — all with the same unique, warm scent for the home. I love that we were able to adopt Lightwell’s rich black candle and bottles for this collaboration because it feels so moody and modern. (Shhh… there’s a *wink* of copper foil lettering for extra sparkle on the candle.)

You can take the name literally: I purposely designed our candle and soaps to make a great New Year’s gift. Because they feel classy and special, they make great gifts. But I hope you will give them to yourself as well. The candle and the scent really warms the house, even if you’ve lived in it for 10 years.
